You can do this by looking at the web pages for the research area you’re interested in. Start by looking at our research institutes or go directly to your chosen research area.

Think about how you will support yourself during your studies.
If you are a domestic* student, you may be eligible for a Research Training Scheme (RTS) place. Such places are allocated to the University by the Department of Education and Training (DET). At present, all students admitted to a Higher Degree by Research program with an RTS place, are not liable for tuition fees**. It is advisable that you review the RTS Conditions of Grant found on the above DET website link which includes the student eligibility criteria.

As a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) student, your supervisor will be the person you work with most closely and it’s a good idea to try and find the right person in advance. Our register of supervisors can help you identify the right academic. If you’re unsure of who to contact, then simply fill in the Expression of Interest Form and we will help to put you in touch with an appropriate supervisor.
Application is through an online portal, which can be a bit daunting so it is a good idea to read through the section on preparing your application before you start.
